Janet T. Fason, DO, FAAFP
Dr. Janet Fason is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is licensed by the Georgia State Board of Medical Examiners. She earned her doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. She completed her Family Medicine Internship at the Medical College of Georgia Family Medicine Residency Program and completed her Family Medicine Residency as Chief Resident at Morehouse School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program. She is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association, a Fellow with the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Board of Family Practice.
She served as an Assistant Professor for Morehouse School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine from 2001-2006. She had the honor of providing healthcare to America’s Veterans from 2006-2012 while working with the Atlanta VA Medical Center and serving as the Lead Physician at the Newnan VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
Dr. Fason has dedicated her career to providing excellent healthcare combined with compassion and integrity, in order to improve the health and wellness of her patients. Now, as the Medical Director of Stein Medical Weight Loss Specialists, Inc., she brings a wealth of knowledge to the weight loss program. Over the past 30+ years, then named the Stein Medical Weight Control Center had proven to be successful in helping patients achieve their weight loss goals and has lead them to healthier and happier lives. Dr. Fason has continued to utilize Dr. Stein’s groundwork in Bariatric Medicine as the foundation for the evolving treatments in obesity and weight loss management.
Dr. Fason is from Los Angeles, California and has resided in Georgia since 1997. Currently, she lives in Fayetteville, GA, with her husband, James and son, James II. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. where she spends her time giving back to the community. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, working out, and taking time to enjoy life one day at a time.
