Dr. Stein’s Legacy
Dr. Ignatius J. Stein received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Stein served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years as a Flight-Surgeon.
Following his military career, Dr. Stein continued practicing General Surgery for the next 20 yrs. After he retired from General Surgery in the late 1980’s, he started treating patients for Obesity.
Dr. Stein was one of the first physicians in the Southeast to establish a Physician Supervised Weight Loss Program. Dr. Stein’s Weight Loss Program has been helping patients lose weight for more than 3 decades.
Ignatius J. Stein, MD, FACS, practiced medicine for 61 years, until his death in July 2007, at the age 85 years old. He is still remembered by many of his patients.
